Spicy Avocado Ranch with Optional Southwest Flavor

I have been craving spicy food lately. Some of it was so spicy that I regret it. (Buffalo Wild Wings Mango Habenaro wings…those were too spicy. So good though!)

But this spicy avocado ranch is goooooooood! In my estimation,  the avocado cools the heat of the serrano. You can up the level of spice If you desire. Throw in habaneros if you dare, instead!

There is a nice variation on this simple Spicy Avocado Ranch to give it more of that American Southwest flavor. Add Chipotle chili powder,  cumin, and chili powder.

This is very good on any salad, certainly on a taco salad or southwest chicken salad. If you are having guests for a barbeque you can add it as an option to your veggie tray. (Tip: Make sure you label it so that your guests know that ranch is spicy.)

I would say that it would be ideal to make an hour ahead of time in order to allow all the flavors to meld together.

Recipe: Spicy Avocado Ranch

1 c of mayonaise

3/4 c milk

1 1/2 Tbsp ranch seasoning

1/4 tsp chipotle chili powder (optional)

1/4 tsp cumin (optional)

1/4 tsp chili powder (optional)

2 serrano peppers

1 large avocado

1/2 bunch of fresh cilantro

 

Directions: Roughly chop all solid ingredients.  Throw everything into the food processor, blend until smooth.

  1. This looks good. I would probably limit the amount of spiciness the first time and then fiddle with it until I got it just right. I like spice, but not too much. Will add this to my list of recipes to try.
