Join us as we dive into the world of this cream cheese, exploring its origins, preparation methods, and delicious serving suggestions.

The Rise of this Smokey Goodness:

It has emerged as a popular delicacy among food enthusiasts, combining the creamy texture of traditional cream cheese with the bold, smoky flavors of the barbecue. Whether spread on bagels, crackers, or used as a dip for veggies, it offers a unique and irresistible taste experience that’s sure to impress. While Donny makes his own seasoning now a days, we really love Meat Church Holy Gospel for this.

How to Smoke It:

Making this cream cheese is surprisingly simple and requires just a few basic ingredients and a smoker or grill. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:

  • Cream cheese (softened)
  • Wood chips or chunks (such as hickory, apple, or cherry)
  • Seasonings (optional)

Instructions for Smoked Cream Cheese:

  1. Start by preparing your smoker or grill for indirect smoking at a low temperature, ideally around 225°F (107°C).
  2. Place the softened cream cheese on a piece of aluminum foil or a disposable aluminum pan. If desired, you can sprinkle the cream cheese with your favorite seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or smoked paprika, for added flavor.
  3. Once the smoker or grill is ready, add wood chips or chunks to the fire to create smoke. Place the pan of cream cheese on the cooler side of the grill or smoker to avoid direct heat.
  4. Close the lid of the smoker or grill and let the cream cheese smoke for 1 to 2 hours, or until it develops a rich, golden-brown color and absorbs the smoky flavors.
  5. Remove the cream cheese from the smoker or grill and let it cool slightly before serving. It can be enjoyed immediately or refrigerated for later use.

Serving Suggestions:

It is incredibly versatile and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. Spread it on bagels or toast for a delicious breakfast treat, use it as a dip for crackers or veggies at parties, or incorporate it into recipes like cream cheese dips, stuffed jalapeños, or smoked salmon pinwheels.

Experience the irresistible allure of smoky cream cheese and elevate your culinary creations to new heights of flavor. With its creamy texture and smoky essence, this delectable treat is sure to become a favorite among friends and family alike. So fire up your smoker or grill, grab some cream cheese, and prepare to indulge in the smoky goodness. Your taste buds will thank you!

My husband made it the other day when we were watching football! It can be made as a spread for your crackers or—it can be the unique ingredient that makes your homemade jalapeno poppers…well… pop! Check out my recipe for jalapeño poppers.
